Catering Costa was launched in 2006 with the mission of providing high quality cuisine and service to Flamingo Beach and the surrounding areas. Starting out with private chef events for small groups of 2 to 14, we now have the equipment, the staff and the experience to handle events up to 350 people. We customize according to our clients’ needs by creating menus and service in line with their budget and particular tastes. For the past 10 years, we have grown as a company by constantly raising the bar in cuisine and service.

My name is Jean-Luc Taulere and I am the owner/executive chef of Catering Costa as well as Coco Loco Restaurant, which is located at the south end of Playa Flamingo. Coco Loco is a casual beach restaurant offering great food, cold beer, strong cocktails, and your feet in the sand. I feel fortunate that I was able to establish the best of both worlds with the causal fun atmosphere that Coco Loco has to offer and the challenge of excellence that the catering provides.


I am an eighth generation chef. My father is from the south of France, born in a small town called Le Perthus on the border between France and Spain. I graduated from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Service Entrepreneurship. After graduating from college in 2001 I worked in France, Spain, and in Macau, China. When I moved to Costa Rica in 2004, I was astonished by the amazing fresh ingredients available. Since I arrived, my goal has been to create high end Costa Rican cuisine. When traveling in France you probably won’t look for a Chinese restaurant, I feel the same way about Costa Rica and that is why our specialty is to highlight all the amazing natural ingredients this country has to offer.


Catering Costa has been catering events along the Pacific coast of Costa Rica for over seven years. We have not only acquired an excellent reputation for weddings and larger groups but for private chef events as well. Our client list includes celebrities and diplomats from around the world, as well as the former president of Costa Rica Oscar Arias when he was in office.



This package includes 4 different sample menus for buffet style, 4 sample menus for plated, our beverage options, Brunch and lunch menus and photos. These menus are our greatest hits from weddings and events that we have done over the years. Keep in mind that you can mix and match between menus, we can even do a plated 1st course and main course buffet if that is what you would like. We are flexible when it comes to building menus so please do not hesitate to ask any questions or if you would like to schedule a call to review menu items just let us know. Included is a complete list of all the items we offer by category so if there are any items you don’t care for on one of the sample menu you can always change it out for any of the items in the complete list. We can also build a menu according to your specifications i.e. budget, no meat, no shell fish, etc....just let us know what you have in mind and we can put it together for you.
